Inside By Mente Exhibition

MENET is a group of 6 artists who went to the same college, School of Fine Arts, majoring in painting, with their unique expressions of what has been reflected from their "inner feelings" within social contexts.

Inner feelings shape the way humans are. When we look deep down into the network of elements in our mind, the inner feelings can be triggered by stimuli driving our thoughts. Those thoughts, thus, shape human behaviors developed by social contexts, called social stimuli, including social influence that affects individual based on social psychology. The group mainly focuses on forms of feeling, beliefs, and interactions between humans in communities. Human behaviors are not only something apparent and openly displayed, called overt behaviors, but they also include unobservable individual actions including thinking. As a result, social contexts variably and individually drive changes and influence in ideas, beliefs, value, and human behaviors.

This is their first group exhibition, held at Numthong Art Space, on behalf of 'Mente' with the concept of 'inside' introduced by the agreement between the artists to maintain the unity of exhibition. With the variety of contemporary art work ranging from oil paintings, chemical ink on fabrics, mixed media to performance, the group expresses the feeling of being pressured by external stimuli from stress in social contexts, and portrays their inner feelings. To reinforce and broaden such concept through the use of personalized techniques, they display the attitude towards their work by posing questions, analyzing, and finding some solutions. This creation has led to the development and discovery of the concept. With the success of individual exploration and shift to the next level of art work creation, they are on the verge of arriving at solutions which have been depicted in this exhibition.
